The Thing Behind the Thing

Jesus teaches that true righteousness goes beyond external behavior to address the heart issues behind our actions. He reveals that anger, when nursed into grudges and contempt, destroys our relationships with both God and others. Jesus calls us to pursue reconciliation actively, even leaving our worship to make things right with those we've wronged. He also distinguishes between healthy attraction and destructive lust, explaining that lust objectifies while love honors the whole person. Rather than focusing on religious performance, Jesus wants to transform our hearts so that right living flows naturally from our relationship with Him.
